Psynister asked about cooldowns on Soulstones on twitter.
Once upon a time I used Necrosis. Then it became a huge resource suck and I had to find another way to manage all the fiddly warlock things. I finally settled on using a lot of macros. I use ALOT of macros.. and they’re constantly changing as I improve them.. or change how I want to use them.
Here’s the stone macros I’m using currently.

No answers here.. this is totally a wondering.. more of a reminder to me that I need to experiment with this to find out the “real” answer… BUT:
If we’re pulling a big pack of mobs (ie, the groups in the ICC Lower spire) and I’m going to be spamming seed.. which method is better:
A) Tab, seed, tab, seed, tab, seed
B) Seed, seed, seed, seed, seed, seed,
C) Select high health target, Curse of the Elements, Haunt, Seed spam until 1.5 seconds before Haunt expires then refresh haunt and go back to spamming seed.

Technically Ventrilo isn’t an addon. It’s an external program you can use in conjunction with World of Warcraft.
From Wikipedia – Ventrilo:
Ventrilo is a proprietary VoIP program which allows users to talk to each other, similar to a telephone conference call, but the conference call is made via VoIP. A microphone and speakers, or a headset, must be connected to each person’s computer to use the program.
For the most part you setup your Ventrilo client software, connect to a Ventrilo server and it just works. In some cases you’ll need to fiddle some of your settings so that you sound the best and have the least amount of feedback. I’m not an expert on this and really I’ve just sat in vent fiddling dials and then demaning “How’s it now?” until it got to the point where it sounded good.
That said, there are a few special (non-obvious) things you can setup.

The raiding weekly on my server is to kill Sartharion. We formed up a team and found that we had 14 people interested in going. On a lark we flipped it to OS-25 to see if we could 14-man the 25-man. It turns out we could. Actually.. with 14 people in the 25-man content it made it feel almost as difficult as OS had been when we first tried it as a 10-man raid. Some of the raiders even got the achievement for completing the dungeon with less then 21 people.
I suppose the next part would be to do OS-25 with ~15 people with drakes up. I wonder how much raid DPS is necessary to do OS+3 Zerg on 25 mode.
I had a moment while running OS.. I thought to myself “But wait.. this is supposed to be hard.. I remember when this was hard”. Raids and dungeons get stuck in my head. Some are labeled as “hard” and even though my gear/skill/guild has progressed they’re still labeled “hard”. So when we go in and we take it down without a struggle.. I’m constantly stunned and surprised. In my head I’m still thinking “But wait.. this is ‘hard’.. it shouldn’t be this easy”.
I suppose after face-smashing in ICC for a while it’s nice to go back to some of the earlier content and roflstomp it.. if only to prove that we can.
Having determined (or rather been pummeled about the head and neck with the fact) that the Nevermelting Ice Thingie is one trinket that is relatively easy to get (as it drops in 5-man heroics rather than 25-man heroics) and out-trinkets quite a few trinkets from ICC-25. I finally decided that rather than leaving it to luck I would instead manually sign up to run and get the trinket.
Last night I manually queued up. It actually took me a good 10 minutes to figure out how to sign up for a specific dungeon. I hadn’t done that before. So I queued up.. and I waited.. and I waited. Finally it popped. Happily I started buffing.. and then a little voice in the back of my head whispered that I was a fool and a ninny with the memory of a goldfish. Despite -KNOWING- that the trinket dropped from Tyrannus (who is in Pit of Saron) I had queued for Forge of Souls.
I shuddered for a moment with my finger poised over the “drop group button” until finally another little voice chirpped that there was nice loot to be had in the Forge of Souls.. and I might as well run it.. it was a quick little instance. I swear.. if I find that little chirpy voice I will happily murder it. It could not have been more wrong.

Last week in TNB 74, I had the opportunity to chat with Tristan Johnson from The Elitist Podcast. Tristan is a member of the guild “No Chicks Allowed” which is a hardcore guild which is highly ranked in the US and world wide.
It was very interesting to chat with Tristan about how a “Hardcore” guild differs from all (two) of the guilds I’ve ever been in. One thing that struck me is he said that they don’t schedule their raids. Instead they have specific night which are set aside for raiding.. and ALL of the raiders are expected to show up and be ready to raid on those nights. In fact if you -can’t- show up you’re expected to contact the guild leadership to let them know that you won’t be there. I can see how that would make raid scheduling a lot easier. Right now we’re scheduling raids.. and we don’t know who we’re going to have until it comes time to setup the run.
All in all it was a very interesting discussion and I highly recommend you check it out.
This last week <Caffeine> had a group complete OS+3 for the achievement, mount and titles. I wasn’t in that group (I was getting ready to record TNB) but I hope to be in future OS+3 runs. We’re also progressing through ICC nicely. We downed the Lower Spire and Festergut and we are working on Rotface. Rotface is kicking us in the teeth. I’m sure we’ll get it.. eventually but at the moment it’s our new “Grobbulus”**

From the Curse page: “Pally Power is an add-on that provides an interactive and easy to use interface that allows you to control assignments of blessings for yourself and, if you are a party leader or an assistant, for other paladins in your group or raid. You don’t need to be a paladin to control raid/party blessings.”
“Easy to use” is short hand for “if you know what you’re doing, it’s trivial to manage but most people don’t know what they’re doing and they will frustrate you and make you want to throw kittens across the room.”
