I think I need a new addon… something to be able to leave notes for myself.. something like:

General
Next Enchanting training is at 160 in tower in Elwynn Forest.
Next First Aid is at 265 at port in Duskwallow Marsh
Ironforge
Paladin Training
Drop off “{quest name}”
Duskwallow Marsh
Visit Tabetha
Train in bandages
Visit cave in SW hills and get next part of riddle quest
Tanaris
Turn in quests in Steamweedle

I’m finding that I have a lot of quests that are filed under one location but actually need to be done in another location. It’s confusing to have to keep going through my quest log and re-remembering that I need to stop by Duskwallow Marsh -before- I head down to Tanaris. AND that I need to drop by Steamweedle -before- I run off to {major city} for Paladin training.

I’m also spending a lot of time wondering if I’ve skilled up {professional/secondary skill} enough to warrant a trip to the trainer (especially annoying when the trainer is down in the Uldaman instance).

  • Forgive me for being a bit rude, but I hear they have a marvelous invention for that… pen(cil) and paper. >.>

Pfft! Like I should start using the alarm on my cell phone instead of TitanAlarmWrangler.. or Thottbot instead of RecipeRadar. You.. you Luddite you!

Addons are the way to happiness.. Addons expand your world… Addons are -it-!

    {Yes, my honey calls me the Addon Queen.. what’re you saying?}

  • Yes I’m old fashioned and stuck in my ways. Now get off my lawn, you darn kids! *rattles cane*

  • I think its funny you need all that many addon’s and for all sort of things, some really functional ones yes. But for something like that you need to use your mind and exercise it in remembering where things are or where you need to go.

Do agree with Kaziel though, pen and paper works just as easy and less clutter on your screen. So far i haven’t used a single add on. Really don’t want to unless i have to. But i for one at times take notes on my WoW note pad with pen. I have notes for AH and on anything special. Pen and paper never fails.

I re-iterate “PFFT”! Why exercise my mind when I can use a perfectly good addOn instead?

You! Go sit in the box labeled “Luddite”! Animals I tell you!

I admit I have a notebook next to my keyboard.. it’s filled with notes like “72 Runecloth + 18 Arcane Dust + 12 Weak Flux” or some such nonsense. All notes to myself about all the mats I need for … whatever it is I was trying to create at the moment. All well and good.. but not pretty (horrible handwriting here) and not kept up to date. AND it’s on the left-hand side.. so not terribly convenient. Definately, an AddOn is the way to go.

That said, I think you may have shamed me out of the addon idea. Fine. Whatever.

Speaking of which, if you don’t use addons, how on Azeroth do you manage blessing your party? I can see manually refreshing 5 blessings every 5 minutes.. but when you get into groups of 10-25-40 (not including pets) I can’t even imagine refreshing all of those and hoping to get them right. Even with just 5 people in my party I’m pleased to be using PallyPower to keep the blessings up-to-date.

What’s this 5 minute crap? Greater Blessings of (whatever) last for 15 minutes. All it takes are very cheap reagents that stack to 100, so I always have 200 on me.

  • Also, greater blessings cover an entire class, so if all the mages in a raid need Blessing of Salvation, one cast of Greater Blessing of Salvation, and they all have it.

  • And (I really wish there was an edit command) I do use addons, just not for everything… usually just ones that give me more information on actual game mechanics, or do something that the game already does, but not well enough. Like a number of the CTMods (specifically BuffMod, Core, Party Buffs, Raid Assist, and UnitFrames), RatingBuster, and DrDamage.

Four of the mods I use fit into the category of extras to make my life easier mods. AtlasLoot, Auctioneer, CT_MailMod, and Gatherer.
AtlasLoot is mostly because I like to know what could drop off the boss I’m going to fight, without tabbing out in the middle of an instance.
Auctioneer and CT_MailMod is me just being lazy.
Gatherer is nice, and the reason I use it over other map mods is that it communicates with other guild members and lets them know the locations of other veins and plants. It’s nice to know good places to hit for various resources to plunder. :D
