As for Kittens and other useless things like Blood Elf Bandit Masks, people are LAZY, sometimes I shell out 5g for a 10s recipe simply because I don't feel like traveling to the vendor or looking up where the vendor is. But, people LOVE vanity pets and other flavor items for some reason. It may help that I'm on an RP server. It may be more profitable to know an enchanter and send them all your greens to disenchant and then sell off the materials.
