Token of love

Posted in Warlocks at 12:10 pm by Nibuca

Honestly, I wanted to subjugate an Incubus… that would peg my happiness meter.. some Adonis like demon thingy.. with a six-pack of steel.. trotting along next to me.. mine to command. But no.. Blizzard designed the game for 14-year-old boys.. so I get a buxomous demoness in leather with a whip. I still get to subjugate her though.

I’m amazed a the disparity between the Gnome and Blood Elf Succubus quests. The Gnome quest was annoying just in the travel time.. but the Blood Elf/Undead quest was almost-outside-the bounds of reason hard.

Death.. in a most peculiar way

Posted in Lilac at 1:19 am by Nibuca

Death in the Twisting Nether
GM Ticket:
So I was walking down the road in Darkshore.. and my voidwalker stopped following me.. I even stopped and then turned around to look at him. Then I disconnected.

When I reconnected I was falling in an area called the “Twisting Nether”. I fell to my death.. and then it offered me th option to resurrect… Resurrect, fall, die, don’t resurrect, fall, fall, fall, Resurrect, fall, die, Resurrect, fall, die, Resurrect, fall, die.

Help help help!

Hearthstone was down.. /quit /exit /logout said that I couldn’t logout. Eventually I pushed “ALT-f4″ to abort the game.. when I logged back in it put my ghost in the Darkshore southern graveyard. Very very weird.

Fiancee said that it was further proof that Warlocks are evil.. and this was just Ette falling into Hell (conveniently without her voidwalker)(damned undependable demons anyway).

[Edited to add:]
Curiouser and curiouser. WowWiki says: “Demons have their genesis in the Twisting Nether. They alone control its secrets and master its energies, using it as weapon, armor and cloak.”

I KNEW IT! The danged voidwalker threw me to the metaphysical wolves. I must remember to sacrifice him more often!

The evilness of Warlocks

Posted in Lilac, Warlocks at 8:56 am by Nibuca

In a conversation with Guildies on Vent last night I said:

“I gain power by subjugating demons, sucking away the lives of other creatures and then condensing their souls into tiny little shards which I store in my pouch. Nah, we’re not evil, what makes you say that?”

Ette is now questing in Bloodmyst Isle. It’s an unlikely place for a warlock. There are no warlock trainers on this entire continent. Very odd. Anyway, I’m questing with Grendyle, fiancee’s 17 Draenei Warrior. We are the epitome of the odd couple. He’s .. big.. and um.. blue.. and smashes things with a hammer. Ette is tiny… and green (pigtails/eyes) and zaps things with arcane and shadow energies. He’s taking great pleasure in demonstrating his “leet threat skillz” and I’m taking extreme pleasure in seeing if I can grab aggro from him. So far he’s winning. We’ll see how long it takes for that to change.

Ette dinged 18 last night on one of the quest turn ins. She still has tons of quest to do on the Isle. It looks like it’ll be an interesting adventure.

Revision of Revolution

Posted in Lilac, Musings, Tatia at 8:46 am by Nibuca

Yesteday I quoted off some resolutions. On re-think I’m going to revise those.

Looked into bags.. turns out you don’t get anything decent with tailoring until you can get to level 35. UGH! That seems to be a lot of work to put into a toon I’m not committed to playing (priest). I briefly toyed with the idea of making Ette (warlock) do tailoring.. but I’ve hit upon a new plan:

Exploit Guildmates (I like this new plan)

Honored with Cenarion Expedition

Posted in Tatia at 1:59 am by Nibuca

Easiest rep grind EVER! As the poster says, Neutral to Honored in 5 minutes.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=74339276&sid=1

Ended up costing a total of about 12g. Worth it.

[Edited to add:]
Dang.. forum post got deleted. Anyway.. CE honored.. buy 360 Unidentified Plant parts and turn in. Sell everything that comes out of the bags.

Protection Pally Initial Threat

Basically 1 dmg = 1 Threat, 1 spell dmg = 1 Threat, 4 healing points = 1 Threat (for Paladins)
Righteous Fury makes Holy Damage = 1.6 Threat and Improved Righteous Fury makes Holy Damage = 1.9 Threat

In order to pull aggro you have to exceed someone else’s threat by 10% (110% of top threat) OR they have to lose aggro (stunned, knock back, etc).

Mail Bomb Interruptus

Posted in Tatia at 1:39 pm by Nibuca

We made an abortive attempt to do Underbog last night. Abortive because after the first few pulls we determined that with Tatia at 60 the instance was just going to be too tough. We were a guildie group of Tatia (60 Pally), Zynnia (62 Priest), Daegothh(63 Mage), Fynriss (62 Hunter), Stiletta (62 Rogue).

Changed up to do Blood Furnace instead. It didn’t suck horribly.. but it wasn’t a bed of roses. As the lowest level toon in the group Tatia had a hard time holding aggro.. this frustrated me since I couldn’t think of anything else I could be doing to hold aggro. “Hit harder” really isn’t a valid answer for the Protection Paladin (though I’m looking into adding +dmg or +spell dmg to gear).

Pally AoE HoT

Another frequent whine from the forums is plea for Heal over Time (HoT) and AoE heals for Paladins.

I’m not holy, I’ve never been holy.. but I thought that’s what Judgement of Light was?

Paladin: Judgement of Light at level 70 costs ~280 mana (can’t find the mana cost of “Judgement”) seems to have a 50% proc rate to heal for 95. So as long as the Paladin is hitting the mob.. everyone who is melee hitting the mob will be healed for an average of 50 hp each swing.

Solo healed Scholo

Posted in Tatia at 10:27 am by Nibuca

Last night Tatia Solo healed Scholo.. while wearing her Protection gear.

I thought Zynnia (61 Priest) was coming, instead that player brought Pheefee (70 Warrior) who needed the mana potion recipe from the ghost vendor. The group was Raoun (70 Hunter), Sibiy (70 Hunter), Chulong (70 Rogue), Pheefee (70 Warrior) and Tatia (60 Pally). As “lowbie-kins” I was there to glide through the quests and accumulate Argent Dawn rep.

Things Paladins weren’t meant to do…

Posted in Musings at 12:58 pm by Nibuca

.. so stop asking for it already.

There’s a thread on the forums wailing for “duel weld” about every other day. Just give it up already.

Things we’ll never do:

If the developers at Blizzard -ever- add any of these abilities to the Paladin I’ll die of surprise.

Paladin: a holy shining warror of the light (though Blood Elf Paladins push this ideal pretty far) champion of the weak, defender of right

I almost added “DPS” to the list above.. but supposedly Retribution paladins can do it.. and I’m holding out hope that pally DPS will get looked at by the developers.. (and I don’t want to die of surpise).
