Blog Azeroth Shared Topic: What’s in a name?

Posted in Blog Azeroth at 1:42 pm by Nibuca

Blog AzerothBlog Azeroth is an online community of Wow Bloggers. As part of the community we have a semi-regular feature called “Shared Topic” where one blogger proposes a topic and many bloggers who are part of the community respond to that topic. This is a response to: How did you come up with your character names?

NameYour toon’s name is almost the only way you can personalize your toon. You can only choose your looks to a limited extent.. but regardless of what you choose, you’re assured that there are probably hundreds of other toons that exactly resemble your toon. When you get to end game if you’re doing it right you end up wearing the same armor as everyone else in your class. If you’re a druid.. well you’ve looked like a bear since level 10. Lucky you. /sarcasm.

Your name hangs above you and is one of the few things you can personalize.

Mains

Posted in Lilac at 11:07 am by Nibuca

ChoicesI didn’t do Kara last night. I had the opportunity to.. but it turns out we already had 3 healers in the raid. Suddenly West Kingdom is overrun with healers (we didn’t even have all of the healers logged in). Instead I took the night to play Lilac. My goal is to get her to 70 so that she can be my “DPS” toon. So I can still play when an additional healer isn’t necessary.

WoW Motion Sickness

I’m ba-ack ;)

Logged in today for the first time in over a week. Vacations good.

If you’ve ever taken a week off of the game then you’ve seen what I’ve seen. After you take a week off.. then for the first hour or so that you come back and play, the game is uber-beautiful and moves funny and makes me naseaus.

Evolution of a Warlock Macro

Posted in Macros, Warlocks at 4:44 pm by Nibuca

Macro CreationSo.. well.. I’m a programmer at heart. If it’s good as it is, it’d be even better if I could get a computer to do it.

Last week Lilac ran Mana Tombs and I got my first taste of warlock CC. I dutifully made up a focus macro to get seduction to work.

/cast [button:2, target=focus] Seduction
/cast Seduction

If I click this button with my right mouse button, cast seduction on my focus. Otherwise, cast it on my target

It was lovely. CC worked. Mana Tombs was a win. Then I went back to questing.. At this point I changed back to using my voidwalker.. and had a moment of “harumph”. It seems rather silly to have a button for “Seduction” on my button bar when I don’t have my Succubus out. Then I got to thinking (cue ominous music).

High King Maulgar (boring) movie and brief analysis

Posted in Tatia at 10:38 am by Nibuca

WWS http://wowwebstats.com/2w26zn3dvcz3u

From Wowwiki: High King Maulgar is the lord of the ogres of the Blade’s Edge Mountains of Outland, ruling from within Gruul’s Lair. His council consists of Kiggler the Crazed, Blindeye the Seer, Olm the Summoner and Krosh Firehand.

I wonder if HKM got the message that Tatia is now queen of the ogres?

High King Maulgar take two

Posted in Tatia at 11:43 am by Nibuca

West Kingdom paired up with Shadow Warlords again to smash High King Maulgar (we would have gone further but lots of people had to log off). WK fielded the following toons: Tatia (Holy Paladin), Fynriss (BM Hunter), Krullwyn (BM Hunter), Raouen (MM Hunter), Gongniu (Protection Warrior), Amellea (Feral Tanking Druid), Weaver (Holy Priest), Daegothh (Mage), Odisia (Mage), Talyanna (Mage), and Validor (Holy Paladin).

He dropped DPS bracers.. which Joebelcher picked up for an offset and two of the Paladin, Shaman, Rogue T4 Shoulder tokens. Shadow Warlords took one of the tokens.. WK took the other. Tatia rolled against Validor (though Validor later admitted he already had them) and Tatia won! This means with adding the [Justicar Pauldrons] Tatia is in 3 of the T4 pieces.

It looks like the chest drops off of Magtheredon and the legs drop off of Gruul. Whee!

I frapsed the fights but wasn’t able to encode them last night. I hope to get that done tonight. Just a basic “watch us fight” with really bad sight angles since more than likely I’m staring at grid instead of watching the fight. Anyway. Look for that tomorrow.

Full of suck

Posted in Kvetching at 3:20 pm by Nibuca

West Kingdom spent all night clearing trash and attempting Aran. There was no win. Sad Pandas.

If it wasn’t death by arcane bolts, it was death by flamewreath or blizzard.. or flamewreath while elementals arrived.. and then mass sheep followed by fireball. It was a long very frustrating night.

The thing is, we had this. We’ve done the fight. We ‘get’ it… or at least we did. I just don’t know where all this suck came from. *sigh* WWS isn’t any help. There doesn’t seem to be a single thing that I can put my finger on and say “Ah-hah! That’s what it was. Fix that and the suck will go away.” No.. it was a lot of things. Lower geared alts in Kara bringing down the DPS. Braindeadness of people moving during flamewreath… or not moving during Blizzards. Dead squishies. All around suck.

The problem with all around suck is I don’t know how to get rid of it. It’s just frustrating.

Warlock Epic Mount Quest

Posted in Warlocks at 10:28 am by Nibuca

My Little DreadsteedAs sad as it is to say.. Lilac was 63 and still puttering around outlands on a slow demon pony. Well no more! Lilac’s got her dreadstead. I think I will call him “Spike”.
