Making Reparations

My computer is still down. Hopefully it’ll come home today. On Monday night I cleared out space and installed WoW on our laptop. I can’t understand how people can actually play on a laptop as their main computer. More than that.. because of limited resources I’m playing without any addons. It’s just… HORRIBLE.

I tried to log onto one of my lowbies and do some questing on her. The theory there is since I’m not used to playing on her I won’t miss my “regular” setup as much. It might have worked if I’d had an actual mouse. Unfortunately the laptop has a touchpad.. and moving and targeting/attacking mobs is exceptionally painful. I gave up on it after about 40 minutes. Instead I logged Tatia on and went fishing. That was very easy to do with the laptop. Tatia went from 250 to 300 fishing. I also learned that listening to podcasts is a good way to not fall asleep while fishing.

After hitting 300 I decided I needed a break from fishing and logged onto Lilac to see if I could work on her “low-hanging fruit” list. I think I made good (considering the circumstances) progress.

Lilac Peeking into Kara

Before the horror that is my computer occurred.. Lilac went into Kara. West Kingdom’s regular Kara team made it through Attuman, Moroes and Maiden.

We’re trying to start up two kara teams. Lilac got a seat as DPS in the “regular” team.

We were: Baldwyne (Protection Pally), Pheefee (Protection Warrior), Ireena (Holy Priest), Seanarra (Holy Pally), Lilac (ME)(Affliction Warlock), Merindaer (Mage), Chulong (Rogue), Irongrimm (Hunter), Erasmmus (Fire Mage), and Knunn (Rogue).

We started out with Ironguts (Protection Warrior) off-tanking.. but switched him to main-tank for Maiden (because of the silences) and found that she smashed him flat. He is still a little bit away from uncrittable/uncrushable. He’s been told to work on that before next week.

Welcome to Computer Hell

Computer HellIt started so innocently. Fiancee complained that almost everytime he kills something in the game he gets 2-10 seconds of lag. I’d seen it on his computer but didn’t know what it was causing it. Then he tanked Black Morass and 2-10 seconds of lag lead to a couple of anxious moments waiting for him to unlag so he could pick up the boss on that portal. He poked at the problem but didn’t find the solution. Finally I asked him how much disk space he had free. Not alot as it turns out. So we decided to get him an additional hard drive for storage.

Cue ominous music.

Lilac: PVP Goddess (AKA sucking less than the rest of the team)

Oh, I almost forgot. I did two Warsong Gulch’s yesterday with Lilac. Both times at the end Lilac was #1 on the alliance-side for amount healed.

Lilac… the warlock. Number one healer. That’s disgusting. Tatia is cringing on the inside.

Wearing the Pants (well, not quite)

PantsIt seems when you start tossing around new schedules for Kara everyone in the guild suddenly gets a case of apathy. *sigh* Logged on last night and only two people were on. Waffled about for a while trying to setup a guild group. We didn’t have the right makeup of toons.. nor enough of them. I jumped into LFM to fill our empty spots but I wasn’t seeing the right puggers. Eventually I got an individual invite to ShadowLabs and I jumped on it. (Bad Nibuca!!.. abandoning your guild! Traitor) *sigh*

The group was: Druid Tank, Holy Priest Healer, Lilac (ME) (Affliction Lock), Hunter, Rogue.

AGGRO!

Aggro
[NOTE: As of patch 3.0 (release of Wrath) the mechanics of Fade changed. I'm not entirely certain of the change.. but I know it did change. So.. take the below with a grain of salt. It was true at the time it was written.]
Last night I listened to “The Instance #98” and was outraged to hear them mangle a concept. I was up in arms. I decided I’d write to them. I decided I’d blog about it! Then on the way into work this morning I listened to “The Instance #99″ and they admitted they’d gotten it wrong. Grr. Ok.. so no angry corrective letter to them.. but I can still blog about it.

What they got wrong:
A listener who plays a Shadow Priest asked what she could do to stop grabbing aggro from the tank.

They said: Spec into Improved Fade and fade every-time it’s up.

Boggle. I gapped at my MP3 player. Wow.. they’d gotten it totally wrong. I knew they’d gotten it totally wrong.. and I’m not even a priest. Just Wow.

Burbles

Last night Lilac helped with a quick full guildie run of Shadow Labs. We were: Ursadae (brother’s druid tank), Zynnia (Holy Priest), Lilac (ME) (Affliction Warlock), Wannalaya (…)(Warrior) and Shoktul (the criti-ful laser chicken).

I did find that I had to curb my casting so as not to drag mobs off of Ursadae, but not too much. Shotkul spent alot more time than Lilac getting munched by mobs.

Ursadae got his keypart and Lilac came out of there with [Greatsword of Horrid Dreams]. It a little bit better than [item]Battle Mage’s Baton[/item] and will be absolutely yummy when I can add the [Orb of the Soul-Eater]. WTB more badges.

Lag.. and Frozen Shadoweave

Odd lag yesterday. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly. I logged in. Considered doing an instance (not bloody likely with that odd lag) and instead decided to start on quests in Netherstorm. Getting Exalted with Scryer on both Lilac and Tatia is now highest priority on my To-Do list. Both toons need the exalted Shoulder enchants.. and Lilac needs the yummy spell hit trinket the [item]Scryer’s Bloodgem[/item].

The Days of our Lilac

LilacExciting week to be a Lilac :)

Over the weekend Lilac, with the help of a bunch of guildies, completed the pre-Ogri’la quest chains. So now she can start doing dailies. Yeah! She also -finally- got tailoring up to 375.

Last night West Kingdom was forming up a group to run Kara. Last Monday they cleared to just past Curator and were looking to finish it off. Neither of my toons were in that earlier run so it was doubtful that I’d be going in. Regardless I chatted with guildies and found out one of them had a Shadowcloth spec’d cooldown available. I have already crafted my [Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders] and [Frozen Shadoweave Boots] and I was only 4 pieces of Shadowcloth short of getting the robe. In addition to having a cooldown that guildie also had 2 pieces she was willing to trade for mats. Viola! [Frozen Shadoweave Robe]. I immediately gemmed it and got it enchanted.

Being Polite

WallWhat is the polite way to say “Are you smoking crack?* No, your I-just-dinged-70 -and-got-my-kara-key toon should not expect to automatically be on the Kara team”?

*sigh* West Kingdom is about to run into a wall. I’ve seen the wall for a while but it was small and far off on the horizon. Suddenly it’s in my face and I can’t see anything else.
