Geeking out here… and not about the game. This blog is a wordpress blog. Not “wordpress.com” just the free download version of the same software.
Anyway, I installed a new plugin “Similar Posts” It “Displays a highly configurable list of related posts. Similarity can be based on any combination of word usage in the content, title, or tags.”
It seems to be totally automated.. and I don’t seem to be able to adjust the links. I’m ok with that for now.
Under the heading “Progression is good” several guild members decided to spearhead an effort to move forward. Specifically to move further into ZA. So monday was changed to “ZA night”. Last night we were able to down both Bear Lord Nalorakk (who we’ve killed before) and Eagle Lord Akil’zon. We also made several attempts on the Lynx lord (before having to call it a night).

I went out to Area-52 and killed Dr. Boom (yes, I killed him). Before I killed him I tinkered with my spell rotation enough to finally get around 700 DPS. That was standing still focusing on a single target. Then I went to Heroic Botanica. The recount on the left is from that Botanica run.

Part I summary: dots run a long time. Trash dies in a short time. Using dots on trash means they die before the dot has time to go bang. To get more bang for your buck be smart about killing trash and do it different from bosses and grinding.
Part II: That’s all well and good.. but now I’m finding that Lilac is stuck at ~550 dps. I’m just not able to break past that and I really think I should. MaxDPS says that based on her spec/gear/+spell/crit Lilac should be getting 1,014.5 dps. Buh! That’s almost double what I’m actually seeing. So according to that.. I’m just sucking hind teat. I’m finding Groups of Words to be a very thought provoking blog (aside from the promises of hot engineer sex). In today’s post he categorizes endgame players as loot-driven, explorers, or social. He then explains “guild hopping” in an easy-to-follow way.
Toddle over there and give it a quick read, it’s worth it.
Ok, what struck me.. is that I, and most of my guild are stuck at the EndgameA position. West Kingdom has completed Kara and for the most part is fully Kara geared on our mains. We’ve also completed (with Shadow Warlords) Gruul’s Lair. At this point we should be moving on to EndgameB but we’re running into a couple of problems.
Problem 1: We don’t have enough warm bodies to independently run the next endgame. We can reliably field 14-16 well geared 70s. Unfortunately the next level requires a minimum of 25 warm bodies.
Problem 2: We have a relatively exclusive recruitment policy. You have to be a real life friend-of-a-friend in order to get a guild invite. We trust the people we know.. and believe that they will recruit other trust-able people. This means that we end up with a lot of people who join the guild and then level to 70. So most of our new recruits are either still levelling or just entering the EndgameA and aren’t ready for EndgameB. Read the rest of this entry »
It was like night and day. Last night West Kingdom ran Kara with the regular group. We one-shotted Attuman, Moroes, Maiden, Opera (Oz) and Curator.
We were:
