No big topic today.. lots of little random. (Random blogger is Random)
I’m not sure how I’m going to handle it.. but this is -my- blog. I read alot of stuff every day. Sometimes there something interesting in a blog/article/blue post.. but it’s not enough to make a full blog post about. My plan is to add a new little section to the bottom of a blog entry so I can jot down these interesting tidbits. It’s all random.. it’s not always going to be Wow-centric.. it may branch off into the Meta. I repeat.. it’s my blog. If it bugs you. Stop reading.

Unlike melee combat, it seems that spells are on a two roll system for hit and crit. The system rolls once to see if you hit.. and then rolls again to see if you crit. This means that if you can’t hit, you can’t crit. The number one easiest way to increase your DPS is to cut down on the number of spell misses(which is different from “resists”).

My first toon was 70 more than a year ago. About a week after she turned 70 I finally had enough money and I bought a flying mount. I’ve been happily winging around Outlands ever since. The same thing happened with my second 70. Immediately after turning 70 she bought a flying mount and has been flitting about on it for most of a year. A few months ago I even upgraded one of those toons to use “EPIC flying skill”.
Blizz has always said that you won’t be able to use your flying mounts in Northrend until later levels. Having played an 80 on the BETA I completely agree with this decision. With a flying mount it’s too easy to circumvent the content.
At Blizzcon ‘08(or slightly before that) they announced that “Cold weather flying” would be purchase for 1000g from the Dalaran Flight Master at level 77. I didn’t really think anything of it..until now.

I’m not normally all mushy. I’m a methodical type person.. but I have to share.. I really love running around with my felpuppy, Fzuugsomethingorother.
The “Grumble growl” as he runs off to attack the mob. His little.. um.. antenna that just stick out at the top of the water when we are swimming.. His happy little gallop as he runs back to me after we’ve killed something. All of these things just make me happy.
I’m glad he’s back. The Imp and Voidy are nice.. but I missed my snuggly wuggly wookums.

WWS seems to still be borked. We’re casting about to find a new true love to munch our numbers and we’ve stumbed on WOW Meter Online.
Last night’s Void Reaver kill.
Observations:
- meets the “epeen building” portion of our number munching requirements. We can definitely tell who topped the damage meter.
- We can’t seem to find the trash.
- I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s written/maintained by non-english speakers.
- “Raid Analytics” is interesting.. also a little uncomfortable if you show up under the “Who idle too much as DPS”. Also.. “lower than average DPS”.. Well.. about 1/2 the DPSers should be lower than average. So I’m not entirely sure what to make of that.
- Realtime DPS graph is nice.. I just wish it’d show me what skills were contributing to that DPS at the time.

Almost everything is now raid wide. A couple of times I’ve corrected our Raid Leader when she started reorganizing the raids to “optimize” buffs. That said, there are still a few “party only” buffs.
Shaman: healing stream, mana spring, and mana tide
Shadow Priest: Vampiric Embrace

- get fancy tabard from Scourge event for toons.
- figure out who I’m playing to 80 first (probably warlock independently.. and pally with guild group since pallies are gimped)**
- figure out warlock spell rotation that isn’t gimp on trash
- figure out warlock spell rotation that keeps corruption up on the boss and has good dps for boss fights.
- figure out how to compare armor pieces for warlock in NWO.
- get gold.
- get epic flying skill on Pally **
- Figure out if I really want to try for “the Hallowed” title on Pally **
- figure out “real” pally spec
- figure out NWO pally healing
** the nerf to pallies this last weekend really took the wind out of my sails. I didn’t really spec retribution.. and I didn’t have OMG DPS.. but still .. it feels like I was punched in the solar plexus. Until that feeling goes away I really don’t expect to say much about my paladin here.

I’m feeling a bit frenetic. There’s too much to do.. and I can’t focus.. so I’m trying to do it all.
I feel overstimulated. I want to just crawl into a safe room and not come out until Wrath is launched.. but I also feel like there’s too much to do and I don’t want to miss out on a moment of it.
Blizz missed the boat on the zombie thing. There should be achievements and titles associated with this. They should track how many zombies you kill and grant a title to the person on the server who kills the most zombies (”Lilac, Zombie Bane” has a good ring to it). They should also track how many npcs/toons you turn into a zombie.. and that should also have a title.
They just totally missed an opportunity to include more achievements.

Now that we can do it.. we need a compelling reason to do it.
I really want a daily quest that messes up your hair. You know.. everyday, if you’re good about your daily quests.. you do this thing.. where the mob randomly “messes up” your hair. Bonus points if it “messes it up” to a hairstyle that isn’t in the character selection screen.. but looks like you just ran out of bed and got cowlicked. Then if you just can’t stand to have messed up hair, you have to go and get it fixed.
Maybe I’m just evil.

Learning to beat the drum
I think.. the affliction dot rotation is complex because we have two different drums. That is, we have two competing cast sequences. In order to achieve 100% uptime we would need to be able to weave both of these together. Wow.. we’re starting to sound like BC Hunters.
