Ghostcrawler finally wrote about the upcoming hunter nerf. I felt a whiff of it in the breeze.. but now it’s official. I have a feeling another Ret nerf is incoming as well.. but that one’s not yet official.
There is a gems here for warlocks though:
9) Growl— threat generation increased by 20% (same for Voidwalker Torment).
I used voidy to solo a few elite mobs in Ice Crown (81-Elite Pustulant Horrors and that Faceless guy in the mine). As long as the damage wasn’t too spiky, I could keep up. My method: Send voidy, cast SL, Spam Health Funnel on voidy until he has a -huge- lead (or until my healing aggro is about to overtake his aggro lead), hit “Soulshatter”, dps the mob down.
It wasn’t fast.. but it was effective.
I don’t know that 20% will be enough of a boost to actually make any difference. Right now my second dot is enough to rip aggro off of the voidy. Two dots and I’m tanking.. just makes me want to use a high dps pet… but right now I can’t really identify who that would be.
Felhunter’s only getting ~100dps. So that’s not working. I’ll try out the Imp later this week.
I was hoping the threat increase would slide over to the Felguard as well but beggers can’t be choosers, I suppose. I figured a Hunter nerf was coming around the corner. As an 80 Shadowpriest with about 1650 spellpower buffed, I’m getting torn apart in DPS by Hunters of any spec (on the DPS meter). Survival isn’t so bad but BM and MM are pretty brutal.

The threat increase will be nominal for the voidwalker as we don’t have any supporting talents for it. The scaling on demons is still pretty bad. So it won’t mean much to us.
Imp damage is actually quite decent if you have the supporting talents. But generally it looks like I am mostly hunting with a fel hunter or an imp in battery mode.
