Progress report: Locket turns 6

Locket is on her way to be my twink. She’s my first twink.. and I started last night at level 4 and dinged 5 while exploring the Barrens down to Wailing Caverns. She then hearthed and started on her tradeskills.

She easily fished up to 50 and cooked up to 30. I suppose I’ll pick up first aid. It seems silly not to.

For her first primary tradeskill she took Engineering. There are nice twink head googles within her reach. With the help of an in-family miner supplying copper and rough stone she got to 70. Additional tradeskill leveling will need to wait until she gets level 10.

Mighty Feast

Feast requires 1 chunk o’ Mammoth, 1 Shoveltusk Flank, 1 Worm Meat, and 4 Chilled Meat.

Ghostcrawler finally wrote about the upcoming hunter nerf. I felt a whiff of it in the breeze.. but now it’s official. I have a feeling another Ret nerf is incoming as well.. but that one’s not yet official.

There is a gems here for warlocks though:

Haste and the Warlock

I’ve been feeling kind of ambivalent about haste (and by extension, Eradication). General knowledge says: “Haste good. More haste, more good.” In general I agree.. but in the specific case of the Affliction warlock I’m still hesitant.

-IF- I’m chain casting haste-able spells then haste is the bomb. It lets me get one-more-spell into the “normal” cast time for the spell thus increasing my DPS.

But.. what if the spells I’m casting don’t benefit from haste?

Gettin’ Shiny

Last night was a good night to be a Lilac. One good thing about being newly 80 is that almost everything is an upgrade. I started the night by making two Turkey pot pies and using up the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers (not directly WoW related.. but still.. homemade pot pie is nothing to sneeze at). While the pies were cooking I went over the Borean Tundra and started on the Kalu’ak quests at the Quarry over there. I was 17k rep away from Exalted when I started.. now I’m 12k away. I’m also not entirely certain I’ve finished all of the Kalu’ak regular quests (especially since I haven’t found the BT daily…).

As I was finishing the Quarry quests guildies started forming a group for Utgarde Pinnacle (I’d never been). I volunteered and wrapped up my Quarry questing.

I then quickly transported over to Ironforge and respec’d. I fiddled some points around in Affliction and moved out of Demonology and into Destruction. New spec: 55/0/16. I’ve been fiddling with the spec off-line and wanted to get it in play so I could start testing it out.

Spellstones and macros

So, I have this macro:

/use Grand Spellstone
/cast [button:2] Create Spellstone

It’s a fairly simple macro. If I left click it, it uses the spellstone in my inventory and applies the “enchant” to my weapon. If I don’t have a spellstone, I right-click the button to create a spellstone. It’s a tidy little macro.

At least it was.

Whar’s ma DPS? (Part IV)

{Epic voice over} Follow the heart wrenching ongoing struggles of a Warlock on her epic quest to not suck.

*sigh* Yes, I’m here again. Ok, I’m 80 and I’m starting to collect my pre-Naxx gear. I’m making good progress. I think I only need 2-3 more pieces to be ready for Naxx-10 (which is scheduled for Tuesday). I’m running Heroics.. and I’m noticing an uncomfortable trend. My DPS sucks. *sigh* Again.

Puzzle me this…

Situation:
Running Heroic Utgarde Keep (my first 80 heroic).
Highest boss level is 80 (I checked the boss kill screenshots).
I am level 80.
I have 159 spell hit rating. Screenshot shows that 159 hit rating increases my chance to hit a level 80 by 6.06%
I’m also spec’d 1/3 into Suppression.. so I have an additional 1% for my [...]
