Patch 3.0.8 is rounding up. It looks like mostly good things for most everyone. So far I’ve seen some warlocks -rave- about the change to warlock summons. I’m kinda meh about it.
This morning they posted some updated notes.. and there’s something funny going on there.
Specifically these:
– Corruption will now gain the correct damage modifiers for the creature type of the target.
– Haunt: Will now gain correct damage modifiers for the creature type of the target. In addition, this ability is now limited to a single target as intended. This also now works properly when refreshed on its current target.
– Soul Siphon: Will now gain the correct damage modifiers for the creature type of the target.
– Unstable Afflicition: Will now gain the correct damage modifiers for the creature type of the target.
See, if I were a Paladin I’d skim right over these changes and not think twice about them. Paladins (esp Ret Paladins) have a couple of talents that are creature-type specific “+3% damage against undead” etc. In fact the first time I skimmed the notes I skipped right over these. It was only when I went back and re-read it that I started to get kind of puzzled.
Specifically this: “… will now gain the correct damage modifiers for the creature type of the target”. I’m looking over my skills.. and talents and gear.. and I just don’t see anything that’s creature type specific. So what exactly is the “bug” Blizz is fixing here?
Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist.. or a prognosticator I might say this could be a hint about the future plans Blizz has for Warlocks. But that’s just crazy talk.

At http://blue.mmo-champion.com/13/7536454003-what-is-will-now-gain-the-correct-damage-mod.html Ghostcrawler states: “Maybe it is intended that they should be the same for all creature types (as you might expect it to be) but for some reason they weren’t. That’s just a guess though.
” But the way he talks about the issue, it may not be just that.
I had assumed it was in reference to items that add increased damage to certain types. Things like the Argent Dawn items (weapon oils & sharpening stones) given out during the invasion.
