Why is it.. that you can go for MONTHS with horribe FPS and nasty lag during raids.. and be kind of “ho-hum I should do something about that” about it.. and then when you actually DO something about it and order a new system.. suddenly every smidge of LAG is immensely frustrating.. and you just want to throw your current computer out the window and THANK GOD THE NEW ONE IS ON ITS WAY!!!

I’m fairly (ok, really really) certain this will give me better performance than my current system.
Last night we did the military wing of Naxx-25. I lagged horribly. I was casting spells by feel. Just hit the buttons at what I thought was the right time and hope that the spell actually started going. I’d die.. and hear ppl talk about it on vent about 5 seconds before my screen updated to show me dead. SO . FREAKING . FRUSTRATING. And that was -after- I’d turned off nearly all addons.. and turned video down to its lowest settings.
I can only think to myself, it will all be better soon. Patience.
I understand your pain perfectly. I currently raid at 5-6 fps on 25 mans, unless things are real flashy on screen in which case i drop to 2 fps……
To be honest, the only reason i’m still running FG/Ember is cause it the spec most forgiving on my bad fps. In order for me to shine as Affliction/Destro and their heavy spell rotations i will really need an upgrade, so I’ve also been looking at PC components over the last few weeks and hopefully on my next pay check i’ll have a new Case/CPU/MoBo combo to get me out of the stone age. Bad news is I pay more for S&H than for the actual components. lol

Well altogether I paid $33 in shipping and $80 in tax. So I feel kind of giddy.
I get mine tax free but to give you an example, the case I’m buying costs $99 and the shipping is $150, lol. At times like these i wish I wasn’t from Puerto Rico. Your setup looks real nice, btw
I upgraded in november, and even though I wasn’t raiding at that time, it WAS Wrath release time. Going from 25FPS at best in quiet areas, with 5FPS if I was lucky in busier places to a pretty smooth 60FPS all the time except for occasional lag spikes on entering Dalaran… Bliss.

That should give you something decent; it mirrors my own, which gives me ~50 FPS during 25mans and ~30-40 in Dalaran.
Most people don’t like the ATI cards because the drivers don’t offer very good support, and while nVidia is definitely a good card I haven’t had any issues with my ATI Radeon 2600 HD Pro.
