While interviewing Graylo of Gray Matter (a Moonkin theorycrafter) for TNB 41 (now available for download) I was struck by the thought that his reasons for theorycrafting sound very similar to mine. When told “use XXX-spell to do best damage” my first response was “yeah.. why?” instead of just blindly following the edict. I want to -know- why I was supposed to do that. If I’m doing something I want to be able to explain why.. and what I’d need to change if change was needed. This post was published long before the Mists of Pandara Expansion. On Emalon’s adds, after one of the adds get the buff, would it be better to just spam Seed of Corruption on all four of them? I -think- my SoC damage on 4 targets is greater than my single target damage. Especially in a 20 second window. Hrmmm.. need [...] This post was published long before the Mists of Pandara Expansion.
Anyway. Right now as an Affliction Warlock, if I have a single targeted mob I’ll use three spells (in no particular order) Haunt, Corruption and Shadow Bolt. This post was published long before the Mists of Pandara Expansion.
Last night was no exception. Last night was our first night of running the “progression raiders”. I was very excited. I managed to get out of work about 10 mins early and made it home with plenty of time to spare. Fiancee had agreed to make dinner.. so I walked in the door ready to log in. Then remembered that I wanted to be sure I had updated my addons. So I ran the curse client and then logged in. *** Stop right there.. and notice: Curse client ran with no problems and download updated addons. So right then.. everything was hunky dory. I touched nothing.. I fiddled nothing. I unplugged/replugged nothing. Nothing changed… then when I attempted to log in the Blizz downloader popped up and said I needed to download a patch. I guess there was some kind of mini-patch. Anyway.. I tried to kick it off.. but nothing was happening. No clickable buttons.. progress bar not moving.. just.. nothing. Really? Me? My pally -just- hit 80. She’s squeeky in her new-ness .. and well I really expected to tank at least one regular or heroic dungeon before diving into Naxx… but fiancee had confidence and I agreed to go. I have buttons.. and I know that I’m supposed to push them (96969 etc). But I don’t yet totally -get- which I’m supposed to hit when. I’m working it out. I’m hoping the change in raiding attitude is as a result of the discussion the night before. If so.. whoo hoo! I’m totally excited about our future as a “casual raiding” guild. |

The following is -only- important when you’re single targeting trash that’s going to die very quickly. In a boss fight the loss of one tick is frankly insignificant. If you are part of the “trash is not important” camp.. feel free to skip this entry.
I hate hardware. With every fiber of my being. I hate having to mess with it. I hate having to diagnose it.. I hate having to fiddle with it. I can -do- it.. but every moment of the experience is excruciating..and makes me violent. Add to that.. it never turns out well.. I only fiddle with hardware when it’s not working.. and almost invariable.. the fiddling ends only when I give up and throw more money at the problem.
Long busy weekend. Saturday morning I logged in and was thinking maybe I should try tanking something easy (a regular dungeon or one of the easy heroics) but there just never seemed to be a group interested in the easy stuff. So instead I started running through the Hodir stuff so Tatia can get access to the good shoulder enchants. About half way through the day the guild kicked off a Naxx-10. I got tagged to go as the off-tank.
Once upon a time.. a long long time ago.. I tried to assign the keys on the number pad (the cube of numbers to the right of the letters on the keyboard) to spots on my button bars. I -swear- that didn’t work and WoW totally ignored those keys. If I’d been able to setup the numpad I never would have started to use my 
Things are looking hopeful on the raiding front. Last night’s raid was the -most- fun I’ve had raiding in a while. Everyone was very relaxed and jovial. We cleared the Spider wing and the Military wing in Naxx-25. We did it with 22 people, got the achievement “Heroic:The Safety Dance”, had very high DPS and not one single wipe.
