Pugnacious Pally

paladin_healingI’ve decided to play and gear up my Paladin a bit. Don’t be alarmed.. my first love is all things Warlockery.. but sometimes the group just needs a healer.. and I feel bad having one.. but not having her properly geared.

Wednesday night I shuffled her gear around and made sure I had as many of the BOE/Badge purchasable gear upgrades (gemmed and enchanted) as I could. Mostly Tatia’s in Naxx-10 gear with a smattering of other gear.

Rawr! I’m a tank!

lilac_as_tankAt the moment (patch 3.2.2) Deep Destruction is the acknowledged “best” Warlock DPS spec. I know this, you know this, we all get it. I’ve got it as my off-spec but haven’t seen the uber numbers with it so I continue to play as Affliction**.

A few days ago I wandered over to EJ with the intention of double checking my off-spec rotation and point allocation. While wandering the forum I found this lovely thread theorycrafting the “best spec” for patch 3.3. I was thrilled to find that deep affliction with felpuppy (my favorite setup) is currently mathified to be the “best” spec with Deep Destruction very very close behind (close enough that the difference is negligible and you could justify playing either). So my plan is to continue to play Affliction (and more often than not beat equally geared Destruction Warlocks) and ride the “favored spec” wave when it comes in 3.3.

Through a keyhole darkly

keyholeWhile listening to Rawrcast I heard Stomp say that she’s “grinding exalted with the running circles in Dalaran boss”. I’m aware of that boss. I know of people who do that.. they hang out in Dalaran waiting for someone to pick them up from LFG so they can “have fun”. Later in the show Hafrot mentioned that he’s grinding Rep with Zandalar.. and Stomp responded that she “didn’t have time for that”.

Wait a minute. Step back. Stomp’s running circles in Dalaran.. and doesn’t have time for other rep grinding. Really? What’s going on here?

Getting in touch with my inner druid

treeformMy baby druid is now level 56. I keep hoping the more I play her that I’ll come up with a compelling reason to level her. I think at this point I’m leveling her because I want to fly like a birdie.. and because I’m fascinated by the -idea- of a druid.

I like the concept of changing my physical shape to fit the circumstances. I like being a white/pink kitty. I love popping into cheetah form to sprint that last couple of feet to catch the boat. Even the evil demon seal form is useful at time. BUT I don’t enjoy druid combat.

Because I’m leveling I’ve spec’d kitty dps. The theory is, if things go bad and I’m kitty dps I can root whatever I’m fighting, back up a few paces, pop out to night elf form and heal myself and then get back into the fight. If I were leveling balance then I wouldn’t have that spare mana. It’s a good theory.. but unfortunately I just don’t like the methods of cat dps.

Musings about the Faction Champions AI

First, go read this: Faction Champions AI Behavior: A Definitive Analysis

Now if you read that, either a) you’re bored because you’d already read it or b) you’re intrigued about what it implies for your class and hope the conclusions there are based on solid testing and anxious to put them to the test.

The Little Things

little_thingsThere are 1,001 HUGE things the Blizz could implement. I get dazzled just thinking about things like Guild Housing, Path of the Titans, Guild leveling and such. But sometimes.. I wish they’d just implement some little things from my want list. They’re not huge.. they’re just.. missing.. and annoying.

Something Strange in Stranglethorn

Stranglethorn ValeRemember back.. during Blizzcon.. when all the changes were announced? They never mentioned Stranglethorn. Not once. I assumed that’s because it was on the other continent from where Deathwing was coming up out of the ground that he just kind of missed it.

Remember back.. shortly after Blizzcon.. when the Dev’s talked about which zones were being touched.. and how severe the changes were? Again, they never mentioned Stranglethorn. I figured that much like Silithus it was “good enough to leave it as it is”.
