I think of all the armor slots I hate trinkets the most. It’s because it’s hard to compare “occasionally hits target with shadowy damage” vs “summons a minion to fight at your side” vs “very very occasionally gives you god-like int.. but then is on cooldown for the rest of the fight”. Soul Fire is a long cast fire spell (4 seconds unless you spec into Emberstorm. Then you can bring it down to 2 second cast) that has no business in my shadowy dotty [...] This post was published long before the Mists of Pandara Expansion. Pandemic causes your Bane and Curse spells to behave as if you have 50% haste (50% haste reduces GCD for casters down to 1 second). Assuming that Haste and Pandemic don’t stack (ie you can’t bring your GCD below 1 second) that would imply that the second point in Pandemic becomes less important as your haste increases.
