Do your dailies!
But I’m leveling
That’s no excuse!! Do your dailies!
Yesterday, while I was 72 I did 4 dailies, they each gave me ~10g and 20k xp. Yes. 20k.
This morning at level 73 I did the Isle dailies. The quests from the first two buildings gave 8.5k per quest. The quests from the last building and the inn gave 12.5k xp each. I think I got 1/4 of a level.

I have made my first cut of a pre-Naxx gear set. Oddly, it doesn’t look too hard to acquire.
Most of my pieces are pretty good already. I just need to fiddle a few pieces into place.

It turns out I’m totally out of practice with leveling. I keep getting full bags.. or noticing that I’m running out of shards (I’ve resolved to use Spellstones and Soulstone myself constantly). And what’s the deal with picking up 8 different kinds of food? My bags over floweth with 1-2 pieces of “stuff you eat”. I’m a warlock FFS.. I can’t remember the last time I ate anything.. well except for Blackened Basilisk. Speaking of which.. I’m so totally eating basilisk while I level. I have 3 stacks in the bank.. that should last me until … 74 or so.

First you take Leulier’s WoW Warlock DPS Spreadsheet and you fiddle with it until it matches your items/spec.
Then you goto Loot Rank and you enter those values in for the rankings.
Then you twiddle through the items and see what you can find. Nibuca’s Lootranks for Warlocks

We started off simply. In the beginning the only guild rule was “No Drama”. It was simple. Anything that happened in the guild.. you could look at it and say “does this cause drama?” If the answer was yes.. the don’t do it.
Then we grew. We got more people into the guild. We decided that we should lay down some guidelines.. rules to follow. Thus the guild became more complex. Now we had rules.. if something happened that wasn’t covered by the rules.. or if something happened that someone didn’t like, then we had to re-examine the rules and modify them to be most fair. We had whiners.. tattle-tailers and rule mongers. People followed the letter of the rules but not the spirit. Everything that was said was carved out of context and take as some kind of censure or criticism. More time was spent smoothing ruffled feathers and explaining what was actually meant then saying what we mean. The game and “fun” became secondary to enforcing rules of “fairness”.
This all came to a head. The guild leadership has declared “Enough!”
We play a game. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s not supposed to be work. I’m tired of dreading playing the game because of the angst and drama that I’m going to cause or help dispell. We’ve declared that we’re going back to having fun.
In the short term this will cause drama. In the long term I’m not sure how scalable this is… but what we’re doing before now wasn’t working. So we change. We’ll see what comes of it.

I hadn’t really planned to go to a midnight release.. I’d planned to be responsible and go to bed. So much for that. I wouldn’t call it a “release party” more of a release.. standing around in the cold (where cold was really only in the 50s or 60s). I do wish I’d made plans instead to go to the GameStop in downtown San Francisco. As it was, we and about 25 other geeks stood around in the cold in San Pablo (about 10 miles north of SF). Some of them epeened.. it involved a lot of cursing (”we were fking clearing Sunwell when the bitch was hard.. the fking patch made it fking easy”) I wasn’t impressed. In the crowd we spotted 3 instances (including myself) of the fabled “grrl gamer”. We were about tenth in line and easily got our collectors editions.
We ran home, installed the game.. and with hardly a whisper we started questing in Northrend. There were plenty of mobs. There wasn’t any lag. The servers didn’t crash. It was weird.. and we are looking around the corner to see if we’re just missing something.

OK.. so Arthas is kicking dust in the face of both the Horde and Alliance. We get it .. we don’t like him. We’re going to go Northrend, kick butt and take his loots. But really, what do you know about Arthas?
You know you’ve got time right now.. while you’re installing the new box package.. while you’re waiting for the patches to install, while you’re waiting for the servers to come back up/stop lagging/reboot. Go watch the Story of Arthas on YouTube. It’s 12.5 episodes recorded from Warcraft III and its cut scenes. It’s worth the time to get a sense of the story lines in question. Know your lore. What else were you going to do?

Soon you will make a death knight. You really should.. it’s very very interesting.. at least play through the starter area. I mean I can understand not liking the play style.. or not wanting to go through Outlands -again- but you should at least play through the starter area.
No spoilers here.. but I will tell you.. when you try and turn in your pony.. it’s #2 on your button bar. Just believe me.. when you try and figure it out.. it’s #2. Look at your button bar. It will save you about an hour of frustration right there. You’ll thank me.

There’s this achievement, “To All the Squirrels I’ve Loved Before”. You have to go around all of Azeroth (and possibly Outlands) and /love tons of specific critters. Lately we’ve been going through raids and someone will /love a critter in the raid.. and then you’ll see 4-5 others /love that critter. I admit, I /love at a sewer rat (even though it’s not part of the achievement) just to see how many people would do it too. I got three others.
But it gets even better…Did you know that the critter you /love… doesn’t have to be alive for you to get the achievement tick?
I’m sorry. I’m not evil. I’m just misunderstood.

Last night, as the Grand Council meeting was wrapping up (we were finalizing our Wrath plans and talking about updating to the newest Group Calender) I asked if anyone had been to Orgrimmar to see the current World Event. Most of the GC were unaware that a new world event had started. I launched into a short explanation of what was going on in Org.. the lore.. and possible implications (all boring stuff that in retrospect they may not have cared about). Finally, one of the GC members asked “Ya, but what do we get?” and in that short sentence she captured the feeling from most of the WoW population.
So far the mobs drop no loot, there’s no quest to kill them, there’s no tabard for defending Org or the harbor and at this point.. players just can’t be bothered. “Oh, they attacked our harbor.. yeah(slightly bored now).. back to emptying my bank so I can get on the boat on Thursday.”
