So I just got the “Welcome to Beta” email from Blizzard. I’m giddy and yet already I feel guilty.
Do I neglect my guild and focus on helping debug beta? We’re just now making good progression.. I can’t really justify it.
Or do I neglect beta and spend alot of time on the live envs. I’d feel guilty triggering my beta key if I only end up spending 2-3 hours actually helping with beta stuff. *sigh*

Hitting buttons is fun. Not hitting buttons is not fun. Spamming buttons is not fun.
I’m currently puzzled by my “baby” hunter. She got two levels this weekend.. and I’m finding that I’m not hiting as many buttons as I want to.

Anyone else finding it curiously curious that we haven’t heard even a whisper of information about the dance studios?

Like it’s so fun. I log onto this game.. and we play it.. and it’s pretty .. and we all have fun. It’s so totally different from work. Work is about stress.. and schedules and making sure everyone is happy so there’s no drama. This is such a cool game. Everyone should play a cool game like this.
*sigh* If only.

I have this recurring nightmare…
In my nightmare I find out that I received a beta key.. but it was “caught” by my spam filter and landed in my BULK folder and was subsequently flushed out the trashcan.
It’s starting to keep me up at night.. I’m obsessivley reading all of the topics in my BULK folder.. I never knew I “NEED Is BIG P3NlS”, had so many friends sending me greeting cards.. or that my dog’s claws needed so much trimming. It’s not getting rid of my nightmares but it sure is eye opening.

NO! It is evil and bad to think to ones self, “self, if you multiboxed you could get a new copy of the game, two months of playtime, one month of free time and a shiny new Zhevra. I mean it’s only $70.. and well it’s a Zhevra. You know you want to.”
Now, I’ve toyed with the idea of multi-boxing.. but not really.. I’m intrigued by it.. but it seems like a lot of work.. but the evil little monkey deep down inside is say “psst.. try it.. then when you decide you don’t like multi boxing.. at least you’ll have a Zhevra.”
BAD MONKEY! No biscuit for you. *grumble*
*sigh* wish I had friends who didn’t play the game.

Recruiting is going great!!! Recruiting sucks
We’ve gained tons new players just today. We lost another player. We’re up, we’re down. We only need 2 more healers to do 25-mans.. no, wait.. we need 4 *sigh* I’m emotionally drained from all the highs and lows.
I’ve been in West Kingdom for a year and a half. In that time we had exactly ZERO people quit the guild. Since we started recruiting we’ve lost 3 of the new recruits. We’ve only been recruiting for 2-3 weeks.
Sometimes it’s them. Sometimes it’s us. Sometimes it’s a long simmering desire they’ve had to give up Wow.. that didn’t actually express itself until after they’d joined our guild. Sometimes it’s the fact that they’ve been in the guild a WHOLE WEEK and we still haven’t run a 25-man(poor them). I’m feeling drained. I’m taking a vacation. Those two things aren’t exactly related.. I’ve planned to take this vacation since about January of this year.. the two things just happen to coincide.

[editing this to make it new for today's patch, I have this problem almost every time.. and this fixes it.. so setting it as today's date just in case anyone else is having this problem.]
So, every time there’s a patch I have to log in 10-20 times before my computer “figures it out”. For the first 10-20 times I log in and either I’m naked.. or everyone around me is naked.. and they’re all named “Unknown” and half my icons are “?”s.
So in desperation I logged onto the Tech support part of the World of Warcraft forums and found this gem:

If you have a Checksum Offload Option,Hardware Checksumming etc, disable it. You may lose your Internet for several minutes. If it does not come back try rebooting. Check under speed or media and make sure your Duplex settings are set to Full 100
Retry the game
It worked. I’m thrilled!

I hate starting to read a series of books when I know there’s already 3+ books out there. I don’t want to become committed to something that might actually suck after the second book. Will Wow be the same way?
If you only had toons below level 30.. or (God forbid) you had just picked up the game.. why would you bother buying Wrath of the Lich King when it comes out? Why would someone spend $20 for Wow Classic + $20 for BC + $30 for WotLK.. especially since WotLK doesn’t have anything for them until they get to the upper levels.
Wow is getting to the point where the game itself is a barrier to entry.
What about all those people who have just picked up the game at the urging of their friends.. only to find they don’t get to play with their friends for 3+ months (until they get to at least 70)?
Wow is getting deeper.. but rather than encouraging it’s subscribers to go back to the beginning.. Wow looks like it’s trying to find ways to speed users through the first 50 levels.
How can I respect someone who has never been to STV?
