Fiancee is helping another player with his hunter. I promised to repost his pulling macro.
Here’s the macro I use for pulling something. Set this up in your macros with the “?” icon.
#showtooltip Distracting Shot
/clearfocus [target=focus,dead]
/clearfocus [target=focus,noexists]
/focus [target=focus,noexists]
/cast [target=focus] Distracting Shot
/stopcasting
What it does:
Show the distracting shot icon.
If my focus is dead,
or if my focus doesn’t exist,
Set me target to be my focus.
Cast distracting shot on my focus.
Then stop shotting (Ie, stop my auto-shot).
Normally you’d use this to pull something to you to put it in a freezing trap (but stop auto-shooting so you don’t break your freezing trap). This sets your target to be your focus.. so if you have the right addons (I’m thinking Quartz) setup you’ll see a timer for your trap duration.
Keep in mind that distracting shots don’t break ice traps. So if you think that the healer is getting higher than you on the trapped mob’s threat list (or if you have to feighn death) you can hit this macro again to hit your focus with another distracting shot.

So I play a lot of toons. I’m getting a feel for them as I play them.
I’ve dug deeply into the Paladin and Warlock spec trees. I completely -get- the Holy and Protection Paladin trees. I’ve compared the different talents and come up with my favorite Holy and Protection specs. I’ve read all the talents and understand their tradeoffs. I leveled my Paladin before the buff to the Retribution tree and I’ve never gotten a chance to play her as full Retribution so I’ve never dug very deeply into that branch to figure out a good full Retribution Spec. I’m ok with that. (Fiancee is currently leveling as Retribution and I feel bad that I can’t offer him better advice.)
I’m fairly knowledgeable about the Warlock trees. I -get- Affliction and have a vague understanding of Destruction and Demonology.. but not enough to talk knowledgeably about which are the best talents for a good Destruction or Demonology spec. Still.. I kinda get it.
I realized this weekend I totally don’t get the Hunter trees (or the Druid trees for that matter).

I tweaked my Hunter’s attack macro based on the buggy piggies. This macro lets me take “Charge” off auto-cast but still uses it at the beginning of the fight. It should also prevent my piggie from breaking my (and other people’s) traps. New macro:
/target [help] targettarget
/cast Hunter’s Mark
/petattack [target=pettarget,noexists] target
/cast [pet:Boar] Charge
/stopmacro [target=pettarget,noexists]
/petfollow

While playing in Shadowlabs over the weekend my brother commented that he’s having a problem on his hunter that his pet piggie will often run over and break his traps even when he’s sent the piggie to attack a completely different target.
It has, in the past, been commented that my brother needs more healing than the other hunter. The other hunters are normally running with a Ravager and a Cat.
I wouldn’t doubt that these two things are related.

From Patch 2.3.2:
# /cast will toggle spells again unless the name is prefixed with an exclamation mark, e.g. /castsequence Steady Shot, !Auto Shot
I hate to let a good option go to waste.. so I’m noodling the uses for this.
Toggle-able spells I can think of:
Auto Shot (for hunter)
[name of] Aspect (for hunter)
[animal] Form (for druid)
[name of] Aura (for paladin)
Find [some trackable group of things (Herbs, Minerals, Demons, etc)] (for anyone)
Stealth (for rogues and kitty druids)

BRK is redeemed. I -love- his new lowbie hunter guide movies. Go watch them. It’s worth all 14 minutes.

Fiancee asked for a macro yesterday. He noticed that Kill command doesn’t trigger the global cooldown so he wants it to try and do Kill Command whenever he hits Steady Shot. This would eliminate a button from his screen… and it would make sure that he triggered Kill Command whenever it was up.

BigRedKitty is an evil Bastard! and I don’t mean it in a nice way. (yes, BRK I see you clicking back on the Technorati links.. don’t think that I don’t see you!)
Everytime I’m grouped with .. well with a Huntard.. I gently nudge them to goto BigRedKitty, drink the coolaid, learn from the master.. become less of a dead-weight on my game. Everytime!
Huntards with a slight clue look to BRK for guidance. All the other classes breathed a sigh of relief. At last.. someone with the knowledge and the skill had taken all huntards to-hand and was showing them the light.. helping them to better themselves.. and to be better partners in instances. It was lovely.. Oh Oh Oh! and then there was movies! There was the sound of rejoicing.
THEN! He was an EVIL BASTARD!

I am not an authority.. I am an utter NOOB hunter. If you want authority go bug BRK.
The problem with chain trapping is the the length of the cooldown is longer than the length of the effect. So unless you can put 10 seconds+ of running space between you and your victim, he’s eventually going to hit you. The cool thing is you can keep him from hitting you for quite a while.

Shoot one target and pull them over to you, stop auto shoot (good for dragging them into an iceblock)
/cast [harm] Distracting Shot
/stopcasting
/Raid —Beware: I’m pulling the %T—
/Party —Beware: I’m pulling the %T—
Hit once, send your pet to attack your taget. Hit again to call pet back to your side.
/petattack [target=pettarget,noexists] target
/stopmacro [target=pettarget,noexists]
/petfollow
