Victory!

Illyah on her new Ram mountYeah! It turns out, once you have 600 tickets you can puchase either/both of the mounts. So Illyah got both the level 60 mount(for later) and the level 40 mount (for now).

Bawk Bawk @ Uldaman

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 11:24 am by Nibuca

Our horde-side guild did a run through Uldaman. It went relatively painless.

Illyah, my protection paladin, has really great tanking gear.. but it’s -crap- for mana. It had a total of +2 to int. This means that after EVERY SINGLE pull I was drinking and half way through any big pull I was out of mana.

Sounds like time to hit up AH for more int. After the run I was able to find gear to bring my int up ~500 points. I’m still looking for more. Blizzard really shafted the Paladin before Outlands.

Horde-side the level cap is at 43. We’re puttering slowly towards 70.

Too much rage

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 3:44 pm by Nibuca

Early Bawk Bawk this week (I thought I’d be out of town friday so moved it up.. but now I won’t be out of town.. so two guild nights in one week woot). The plan was to goto Scarlet Monestary. We’re all hovering in the 30-33 range so it seemed plausible.

We were Illyah (me 33-34 Protection Pally), Persia (31-33 Holy Pally), Lanlong (32-33 Priest), Ull (33-34 Hunter) and Bawkchoi (32-33 Rogue).

We started out by gathering quests. The first couple were easy.. then we got sent to Thousand Needles to get some “Test of…” string of quests out of the way. The string was 9 quests long(augh). So we didn’t actually make it to Scarlet Monestary until much later than expected.

“Runs with Gophers”

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 12:20 am by Nibuca

Gopher Shot“Bawk Bawk”, my horde side guild, ran Razorfen Kraul on Friday. We had -so- much fun. In addition to having a functioning, well balanced guildie group, we also were a little slap-happy and willing to just have fun. We were Illyah (my 29-31 Pally), Ull (Fiancee’s 30-32 Hunter), Bawkchoi (29-30 Rogue), Trillthor (28-30 Mage), and Lanlong (29-31 Priest). I think we each gained 1-2 levels just in this one instance (it helped that most of us had full rested bonus).

The Easy Button

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 8:59 am by Nibuca

Last night I started a new horde-side warlock alt. I’ve heard that Warlocks are easy but that’s not why I choose that class. I wanted a self-sufficient non-pally alt who could pick flowers for my horde-side Pally main (Illyah) who is an Alchemist. With DoTs + pet + self-healing the Warlock seemed like the best bet.

I’ve read that with a warlock you can “just roll your face around on the keyboard and kill stuff”. Though I don’t think it was quite -that- easy it does seem fairly quick so far. I miss my heals.. but I think I get something like that in a couple more levels.. I also want to be able to heal my pet.. but I also think that’s coming in a few levels. Other than that.. PetAttack, DoT, DoT, DoT, Fear. Really liking fear.. wish my Pally could fear.. when the feared mobs come back with friends.. :) all the more XP.

Raid on Deadmines

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 9:54 am by Nibuca

Raid on Deadmines (closeup)What to do with a guild of level 19 Horde toons? Why toddle off to Westfall and raid deadmines of course.

The night started off slowly. I logged into my account and found that someone in our Alliance guild needed help with his level 20 Paladin quest. Fiancee and I offered to help him until Bawk Bawk guild night started (we had about an hour to spare). Part of that quest involves retrieving wood from the Shredder room in Deadmines. We had just finished that and decided to just leave the mines instead of going all the way through Van Cleef when people from Bawk Bawk were starting to use the meeting stones to summon Bawk Bawk guildie’s to Deadmines.

On Ventrillo one of the Bawk Bawk guildie’s said “Hey, this alliance guy is flagged PVP and AFK.”

Fiancee perked up and said “Wow… Kill him. I’d kill him if I were there.”

All of Bawk Bawk in Westfall attacked the AFK player and killed him. This marked them all as PVP.

Fiancee and I were running out of Deadmines. Fiancee (70 Rogue) kicks on sprint and runs for the door.

I was protecting level 20 guildie (the one on his paladin quest) from all the miners so I was a little bit distracted. I say on vent “Hmmm, so you’re marked PVP in Westfall.. an Alliance zone.. That doesn’t seem like a good idea”. At the same time, through vent I hear cursing and yelling.

Fiancee, 70 Alliance Rogue, had dashed for the door of deadmines.. and slayed Bawk Bawk to a man. OMG. It was -SO- wrong! I mean he told them to do it.. and they listened to him.. and then he killed them all!

There was a lot of cursing and swearing.. to tell the truth I was laughing my ass off. I mean I was glad I hadn’t been logged in (it would be even more WRONG to be slayed by your fiancee in pvp) and I wouldn’t have killed them in pvp. But DAMN!

After everyone’s flag had cleared we made a raid and raided Deadmines. It was our first time with all of us killing together. We discussed strategies.. and the raid flagging (moon for sheep, deathhead for first target, etc). It was very enjoyable.

At the end of the night we ran off to Saldean’s farm to get chicken pets for everyone. How on Azaroth can you have a guild named “Bawk Bawk” and -not- have chicken pets.

Any player can /chicken repeatedly at a chicken and get the quest “CLUCK“. Unfortunately, Farmer Saldean will only sell his special chicken feed to Alliance.

What’s a Horde guild to do? There are actually two solutions.
1. Have an alliance toon buy the feed and put it on a Neutral AH to transfer across faction lines.
2. Have an alliance toon get the quest, /cheer at the chicken and then feed it. BUT have a horde toon pick the egg up off the ground.

We went with #2. Fiancee got back into Bawk Bawk’s good graces by squawking like a chicken repeatedly.

Chicken’s in Westfall

I’m tickled absolutely pink by the idea of a guild named Bawk Bawk running around with pet chickens. :)

Slow, Flat-footed and Incompetent

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 4:21 pm by Nibuca

I started playing Warcraft in January. It’s March now.
I have Alt-o-holism. Which means I have a semi-active family of 6 toons, 2 bank alts and Tatia, my new main.
It’s only been three months.. and not one of my toons had ever been in the battlegrounds.

Last night I took Illyah (19 BE Paladin) into Warsong Gulch. I wanted to get a taste of it before we went there tonight with Bawk Bawk.

I though I was an ok player. PvE I am.

PvP, I suck. Major suckage. Beyond the ends of the virtual world suckage. Man-o-man.

So many deaths.. so many “???” “we have a flag?”, “how do you get the flag?” “Oh, down there… those people in red.. oh, ok I bet they’ll attack me.” “ow ow ow ow ow”

PvE: Identify Mob to kill. Run up to mob. Strike mob or just get in their aggro range. Mob turns on you, stands in front of you and you exchange blows like civilized folks.

PvP: Identify Alliance drones to PWN. Edge towards Aliance drones. Identify their class.. Identify what I (little paladin) can do to their class. Run up to drone. Attempt to strike drone. Oh, it’s behind me. Turn around. Ow. Oh, it’s behind me. Ow. Ow. Turn around. Oh hey, I’m low on health.. I should bubble.. where is that button. Oh, there.. bubble. Hmm low mana.. ok, I’ll run away.. hey.. he’s still chasing me. Ow ow ow. *sigh* ok, I’ll wait for the ressurrection.

I -almost- killed one alliance player. I -did- do an impressive amount of healing (once I realized that my awesome plinkage wasn’t going to kill them).

After 3 frustrating battles I went back out to PvE. Happily I PWN furry little Mob butt.

I hope this gets better.

Almost like a headless chicken

Guild night number three was much less bumpy than guild night number two. For the most part my mapping of quests worked out well, at least for my group. Because we have six players.. and the biggest party can only be 5 we broke the guild up into two groups of three. These groups were affectionately dubbed the “Blueberry” group (since they had the warlock) and the “Bear” group (since we had the hunter with a bear). Because we were in separate groups it made sense to split up and work on different quests. This was a good plan except that I hadn’t given the “where to go, what to do” list to anyone on the other group. I’ll have to do better next week.

At six players Bawk Bawk was at a disadvantage. Two groups of 3 aren’t as wonderful as two groups of five. Class-wise we lacked a warrior or a druid since Blood elves can’t be those classes.

Knowing this was the case I invited James to start playing with us. He agreed, and when he heard we lacked a warrior, he rolled up a Tauren Warrior. I also invited my brother and a friend from high school, Gina, to join us. They made a Blood Elf Priest and a Blood Elf Warlock respectively. So now we are at 9 players. The three new additions say they’ll try to level up to 16 by next week.

Ghostlands quests have been fairly predictable. Mostly they’re “kill X number of Y creatures” or “retrieve Z number of A item from the corpses of Y” pretty easy and requiring little thought. I still hate murlocs. *sigh* I wonder if there are murlocs in Outlands?

“I’m too sexy.. for my guild tabard”

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 12:41 pm by Nibuca

Bawk Bawk, my Blood Elf Guild, had a little bit of a bumpy second guild night. I’m untutored in the ways of guild nights.. and although I mapped out the start/end and mobs for each of our quests, I neglected to form a list of which quests should be tackled in which order. This lead to a bit of hand-waving on my part.. which the guild accomodated by wandering off into Silvermoon City for training/shopping/mail and other random-ness.

After the first 30 mins or so it got better. Finally we all met at the bats in front of the city and set off to solve the last of our quests in Eversong Woods.

At the end the night we were all done with Eversong quests, moving on to the GhostLands. We’re all hovering in the 13-14 range. I set the guild cap at 15 (which in retrospect I think is too high. Ah well.).

The current plan is that everyone will complete class/profession specific quests outside of guild night.. and that they will craft everything they need to craft for our next session so we can just hit the ground running.

For my part, I’ll probably spend at least one night this week mapping out the guild quests and planning an order-of-events so we can have a less bumpy guild night number three.

Illyah is becoming a mighty Paladin. I’m still annoyed at the lack of ranged weapons.. but other than that I’m pleased at her versatility. Lanlong sent Illyah the [Oak Mallet] of the Monkey (+4 Agility, +3 Stamina) and [Hefty Battlehammer] of the Gorilla (+5 Intelligence, +6 Strength). Unfortunately Illyah currently can’t use maces of any form. The weapon trainer for maces is over in Thunder Bluffs (far far away, beyond a zone of 15-16 level critters). I think I’ll wait until after next week’s guild night (when I’ll hopefully be at or above the 15/16 level range) before I make the run from Ogrimarr to Thunder Bluffs.

In discussions after Guild night, Verlia asked if there was a guild tabard. After a short discssion, Eadyth declared the the main point of playing a Blood Elf was the dead sexiness of it all.. and guild tabards just cover that up.. so for now there will be no guild tabard.

No, we’re not vain. Why do you ask?

Blood Elf {W}HORDE!

Posted in Bawk Bawk at 3:36 am by Nibuca

On Ventrillo, fiancee mentioned to guildies that we (he and I) were starting some new Blood Elves. We’re planning to play them only one night a week.. and only with the group. One guildie asked if he could join.. then another and another. We ended up with Illyah (my toon) the Paladine, Freki (Fiancee’s toon) a Warlock, Yaoikun a Rogue, Lulong a Priest and a Verlia a Mage. It was -so- much fun.

Screen shots to prove it.
Action shot Action Shot Two

We all leveled to around 9/10. Tons of fun.
