Last night West Kingdom raided The Eye. We tackled and took down VoidReaver. I think we wiped twice on trash on the way to VR. (we only had one warlock.. and that make taking out the saw-blade throwing demons more challenging). We started at 7:30 PST and got to VR at 10:00 PST. Two and a half hours just to -get- to the boss seems a bit long. I really think we can tighten that up alot. Four purples dropped… then we killed Voidreaver.
We one-shotted him. Unlike last time (when he died 8 sec after his enrage timer) we totally blew him away and had about 2 mins until he enraged when he died. Lilac got her T5 shoulder token from him (yeah!). This was on my “major upgrade” list. Fiancee and Khoss (our shaman healer) got the token as well. Go us!
While wandering around the Ziggaurat my baby Death Knight, Aoem, found.. well it looked like a dead Lilac (Lilac is my “main” toon, a 70 warlock gnome). This allowed me the opportunity to poke fun at myself.. and to film the successful making of a death knight.

Last night, for the first time -ever- West Kindgom formed up a group of -only- guildies and took down High King Maulgar (and cronies) AND GRUUL! Of the 25 raiders, 10 were new recruits.
Saturday night Lilac “discovered” Arathi Basin. It sucks. It makes us mad. It makes me want to pound things and throw them across the room. It makes me cuss. I made it through 3 of them before I gave it up, logged off and went to bed to fume about how freaking stupid it is to play a battleground where I get repeatedly camped into my freaking graveyard and how they can all just eat my freaking shorts!!!!
Sunday Lilac “discovered” Altarac Valley. It sucked less. It made me less mad. It did confuse me. There’s just too many darn things to do. The explanation of AV in one minute boils down to “run south, stop and kill Galv, then go to the south-most point and wait until someone says ‘all in’ then kill Drek”. But there seems to be a bunch of other things you -could- do in there.. that I’m not entirely sure you should do.. I mean.. all those towers on the way down.. is anyone supposed to capture them? I was told “don’t stop there and cature that graveyard ’cause it’ll cause a Turtle”. Ok.. Turtles bad.. what are turtles? I found AV lots less frustrating.
Last night we finished off Kara. Not hard considering the only things left standing were Chess, Prince, Netherspite.
I’ve decided I hate Netherspite less when I’m not in the red beam.
We wiped once on Prince (bad infernal placements as always) and on the second attempt I got locked in the hallway (DOH!). The tank asked “Is everyone ready?” I said “I’m just eating my spell food” (I had 2 more sec’s until the buff) and then he pulled.. without realizing I was still eating in the hallway.. on the -other- side of the door.
West Kingdom headed into Kara. For most of the run we were:
Gongniu (Prot Warrior), Mugruith (Resto Druid), Khoss (Resto Shaman), Lilac (ME)(Affliction Warlock), Wawepop (Mage), Lashala (Shadow Priest), Nassar (Shadow Priest), Ynit (Destruction Warlock), Shenzon (Rogue), Azaria (Melee Shaman)
We did have a little bit of musical toons though:
Azaria swapped out for Gaileth (Prot Warrior) for Moroes so we could have a second tank for the adds. Then Gaileth was swapped out for Seanarra (Holy Paladin) for the Maiden fight (both so we could have a Pally for that fight and to give Seanarra a chance to pick up the mace).
Khoss disconnected and Zynnia (Holy Priest) Kindly stepped in for Moroes and Maiden while he was getting that worked out.
After Curator Optimage (Mage) and Stiletta (Rogue) swapped in for Shenzon and Azaria who had to leave for the evening.
With the new world order (ie West Kingdom recruiting) we decided we needed more.. administration We named a Grand Council for helping to make/iron out the rules and Class Leads so that people know who to talk to for help with their toon.
I got invited to the Grand Council and asked to be the Warlock class lead. I’m tickled on both counts.
Then we started recruiting. We’ve gotten 4 new players so far. One of them is even a warlock.
Last week we took him into Kara with us. For that night overall he averaged 425 DPS.
Last night we took him back into Kara. For that he averaged 747 DPS.
That’s almost 100% improvement. I’m tickled pink.
I believe the only thing we changed was to advise him to sacrifice his Succubus, keep fel armor up.. and to use a Shadow Bolt rotation. We helped him to upgrade to Spellfire hood and pants and we also helped him (through the use of be.imba.hu) to re-evalutate his gems and enchants.
So, for a lot of boss fights I, Lilac the affliction warlock, end up standing relatively close to the tanks (to make sure they get the imp buff). As a conscientious warlock I strive to be “just a little hurt” so that my mana pool stays up and the incoming health from my Siphon Life isn’t wasted. This means that I’m usually close enough to the tanks that the frisbee that the priests send at the tanks bounces to me.
UNFORTUNATELY, lifetap doesn’t pass the frisbee on. I feel really bad sucking up all the frisbees and not passing them on.
Yesterday we went into ZA. We did the Bear Boss and the Eagle boss. No problems. We didn’t one-shot them but the kills were fairly clean. No loot for Lilac from those fights.
The more I use Power Auras, the more I like it.. and the more I wish it had more settings to fiddle with.
