Pugging with gritted teeth

faceplantThe good part about being in a very annoying PUG that faceplants repeatedly on Faction Champions is that I got a lot of time to work on/think about how to handle the fight and more specifically the tree druid.

The pug itself was uber annoying.. no.. wait..the pug was fine.. the people running it were annoying.. I bet they were all of 18 years old.. and spend a vast amount of time making snide comments in Vent about how bad everyone else in the run was. <Sarcasm> they were -TRULY- an inspiration.. I only hope I can someday be as ROFLLEET as them.. and woo their gears were pretty.. I just wanted to stand and gaze at them in mute admiration.</Sarcasm> No wait.. I don’t.. I wanted to kick them so hard they landed on another server. /sigh.. unfortunately I attributed my animosity to PMS and took the quiet but greedy route of staying in the pug even when the asshats were pissing me off.

But anyway.. back to the helpful lessons learned.

Turkinator Lilac

Go to Elwynn.
Make a macro:

/target Wild Turkey
/cast corruption

Put this on a keybound button.

Mount up, run along the edges of the water ways (avoid the murlocks.. as a guildie mentioned.. obviously murlocs eat turkeys because no turkeys spawned near the murloc village) and slightly off the road. Anyway.. Run.. spam the macro. When you target [...]

Super Green!

I am exalted with.. and yet hate the Oracles.
My banker has 4 [tickbird hatchlings].

I couldn’t be happier (well .. unless they made it 310.. and made my tickbirds sell for more [...]

Rawr! I’m a tank!

lilac_as_tankAt the moment (patch 3.2.2) Deep Destruction is the acknowledged “best” Warlock DPS spec. I know this, you know this, we all get it. I’ve got it as my off-spec but haven’t seen the uber numbers with it so I continue to play as Affliction**.

A few days ago I wandered over to EJ with the intention of double checking my off-spec rotation and point allocation. While wandering the forum I found this lovely thread theorycrafting the “best spec” for patch 3.3. I was thrilled to find that deep affliction with felpuppy (my favorite setup) is currently mathified to be the “best” spec with Deep Destruction very very close behind (close enough that the difference is negligible and you could justify playing either). So my plan is to continue to play Affliction (and more often than not beat equally geared Destruction Warlocks) and ride the “favored spec” wave when it comes in 3.3.

Onyxia.. which pet?

onyxia1Onyxia is a fight of three parts.

Part 1: on the ground, tank and spank. Stay out from the front (cleave/fire breathing) and behind (tail swipe) her.. and whale on her until she reaches some percent (honestly I don’t know what percent) at which point she walks across the room and takes off into the air.

Part 2: Ony flies around the ceiling of the cave and occationally shoots out little fireballs and deep breaths. At this point she seems to be out-of-reach of melee. Melee kills the big adds, Ranged dpses on Ony or on packs of whelps. Everyone avoid the deep breaths.

Part 3: Ony hits 40% and lands. Back to a tank and spank except now occasionally Ony fears everyone and the floor erupts in lava bursting out of the cracks (don’t stand on a crack, don’t pop any more whelps out of the whelp caves, kill her until she’s dead).

Hot, Hot, Hot

fireOver the weekend I completed Midsummer Festival on my main (she’s one holiday away from a Violet Proto-drake)(assuming they don’t throw a new “Pilgrim” holiday into the requirements). I also completed the honor/desecrate circuit on my baby druid and hunter.

Outside of the cities, my 80 ‘lock was attacked twice by hordies. I -get- that it’s a pvp-esque event and I expect to have a couple of run ins with the other faction. I get it.. I’m peeing on their fires and they’ve got their panties in a twist. Whatever.

The first tiff was at Crossroads. I was insta-gibbed by a rogue. I think I was dead before I even got a chance to push a button. They didn’t pursue me when I moved on to the next fire.

The second tiff was while I was riding back from Raventusk Village in the Hinterlands. An 80 Blood Elf Death Knight attacked me and knocked me off my pony.

First off, I suck at PVP and I hate doing it. Second off Death Knights are OP. Third off.. I ROFLSTOMPED the BE Death Knight. Seriously.. I suck at PVP but he sucked more. I death coiled him and then kept him feared until I dotted/Shadow Bolted him down. He never strangulated me.. and I never dipped below 75% health. Seriously.. if you’re going to start something.. finish it.. cause all this little tiff did was make me want to log over to Horde side and tell him how much he sucked at PVP.

Oddly my baby hunter was also attacked in Hinterlands. An 80 Troll Mage decided to attack her on her way back from Raventusk Village. The mage blasted my baby hunter off her pony. I set my ravager to eat the mages face. I had 7 health points left..-7- and the mage turned to “deal with” my pet. I ran away and hid behind a tree. Srsly. I don’t get it. Well ok, maybe I do.. I’m on a PVE server.. and I know that -I- suck at pvp.. but I dunno.. I expect more of the horde. Having a level 80 mage get “distracted” by a level 57 ravager to the point where the mage actually turns away from the lowbie hunter he’s ganking and starts killing the pet.. just pitiful.

“You’re doing it wrong”

doing-it-wrong-ball_2Don’t get me wrong.. I love feedback. I savor it and look back on it and get a warm fuzzy feeling (somebody “loves” me and values my content) but I don’t always agree with the feedback. I still kind of want to snuggle them and whisper sweet nothings in their ears.

Razorscale, all together now

razor Last night I had the opportunity to run Uld-25 on my Warlock, Lilac, with our shiny new guild Alliance**. We went into an already-started Uld-25 and made a bunch of attempts on Razorscale. I had to leave early (recorded TNB Ep 47 with Honor of Honor’s Code)(it should be available for download on Tue/Wed) but even before I left we were having problems.

Questions (for all of you who know): In Uld-25 Razorscale, do you have your tanks pull all the adds together so you can AOE one big pack down.. or do you tank them in 2-3 separate groups?
When Razorscale lands, do you have your tanks pull the adds to under Razorscale so AOE can continue and include the adds and Razorscale?
Is there some reason you shouldn’t?

Where I suck at DPS

yousucklargeWe went into Ulduar-10 and -finally- I got to bring my warlock. In a word.. I sucked. I was lowest on the damage meter.. and it hurt when fiancee not only pointed this out but pointed at the other warlock who was out-dpsing me by quite a bit. I was at 2.1k dps overall (recount showed me at 1.9k). (World of Logs (the new sexy WWS) and WWS.)
