NOTF: Power Auras Fan Update

Quick note. Power Auras has had a fan update. If you use the addon Power Auras.. and have issues where you need an aura to be active only in ONE of your specs, this update is for you. I’m finding it hugely useful on my pally (holy/prot) and on my ‘lock (affliction/hybrid:felguard emberstorm) [...]

Addon: Pawn

pawn_logo_1png-118x78Pawn is an in-game addon that helps you to evaluate gear to determine which piece is better. The addon allows you to assign points to different stats and then tells you how many points a certain piece of gear is worth according to your point scale. In theory, if you have two pieces of gear, the one with the most “points” is superior. In reality, Pawn is only as good as your scales.

More Power Auras

I’ve mentioned it before.. but I -love- Power Auras. Here’s a quick set of auras.

When I’m in a raid I can easily end up with 3+ rows of buffs. I hate having to spend a long time figuring out which buffs I’m missing by scanning all these buffs. So I setup 4 new auras. If I’m in a raid, and I’m missing {relevant buff} a “spark” shows on my screen above my mini-map. The “sparks” are color coded.. so if the spark is pink I know I’m missing the pally buff, orange: druid, white: priest, and blue: mage. It just makes it very easy to tell which set of buffs I’m missing.

In the picture for this post (click to see the full screen shot), I’m missing the druid and the pally buffs.

Nostromo N52 Revisit

[Edited to add: an update to this has been posted here: “Button Button who’s got the Button“]

I’ve had my Nostromo N52 for almost two years. It’s been a long time since I posted about it(original post).. so I figured it was time for an update (Besides, this makes a really good Christmas present for the Wow Player in your life).

What it is:
The Nostromo N52 is an external gaming speedpad. You use it in addition to your mouse and keyboard to manipulate and interact with your computer.

Addon: Livestock

Livestock manages your mounts and your non-combat pets.

You can designate which non-combat pets you don’t want to summon and it will randomly choose from the remaining pets.

Metahud update

Quick note, last night I made an update to the copy of MetaHud I’m tweaking.

The options menu is still buggered. I’m not willing to upload this to something like Curse until I get that fixed.. but it’s moving along.

If you use it and you spot bugs, please report them to me. Thanks.

Summon Random Non-Combat Pet

/run CallCompanion(“CRITTER”, random(GetNumCompanions(“CRITTER”) ) )

I didn’t write it. Sometimes good information actually -does- come from the official forums.

See the official forum post for more information about “random mounts” (ie, the answer is long.. they said it well.. and i’m not going to repeat it.. except to say that the addon “livestock” looks like a very [...]

How to annoy all the other healers (without even realizing it)

Thed at the top is hurt ~2.7k health. Person on the bottom is hurt ~1.8k and has a 2.5k heal incoming.I use Grid. I’m what you might call a Grid Zealot. I think it’s the greatest addon EVER for healing (or even for non healers to keep their screens decluttered in 10-25 man raids). Unfortunately not everyone is a convert.

It’s come to my attention that alot of other healers use healbot. That’s fine. It’s their UI they can do whatever they want (heathens).. but this also leads to a little bit of a problem. You see Grid and HealBot don’t really talk to each other. Or rather.. Healbot doesn’t really talk to Grid.

At a glance

Here’s what my raid frames (Grid) tells me at a glance (image is about 2x nomal size. click to see the full screenshot):
Glance

That which grid does by default:
– The boxes are colored by class. So at a glance I know there are 3 hunters.. and I wonder why there’s only two hunter pets up. (Kupl is Lilac the warlock’s phase shifted imp)(all the other warlocks are succy-sac warlocks.. so no pet for them) (If the 3rd hunter pet was dead it should show as dead at the bottom.)
– The first row is group 1, the second row is group 2, etc. It’s easy to say Lilac is in group 3 (Lila in Column1, row 3). Omar is in group 4. You -can- group the hunter pets with the groups in grid.. but I don’t like the way that display looks.

Addon: Mendeleev

Greaves DetailThis is another addon that I think should be built into the default UI. It’s not quite Tier 1 (I can’t live without it) but it definitely falls into Tier 2 (Life is way easier with this).

Mendeleev (named for the inventor of the periodic table)(which is interesting.. but makes the name hard to remember as I don’t see how it’s relevant to the function of the Addon)(but anyway) updates the tooltips of items with helpful information. It will tell you what recipes use that item, who drops an item (and at what percent) and other helpful information.
